Judge Christine M. Walczyk was born in Raleigh, North Carolina at the old Rex Hospital on Wade Avenue. She is the daughter of Cecile and John Walczyk and the oldest of three children. After her younger brother John was born, the Walczyk family moved around and settled in South Florida. Judge Walczyk grew up in South Florida with her parents, her brother John, and her younger sister Anna. She graduated from Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton, Florida.

Judge Walczyk returned to North Carolina in 1992 after graduating from the Boston College Carroll School of Management. She attended the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill and went on to open her own law practice in Raleigh.

For more than eleven years, Judge Walczyk practiced law in Wake County representing businesses with their transactional and litigation needs. She also represented indigent defendants in criminal cases and juveniles in delinquency matters.

During her career, Judge Walczyk has been actively involved in local bar activities as a member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Committee on Women in the Profession, the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, and Wake Women Attorneys. She has also been actively involved in the community volunteering with various organizations like the Volunteer Lawyers Program, Triangle Impact, and the Wake County Bar Association’s wheel chair ramp service project.

Judge Walczyk comes from a soccer family and has played women’s soccer in Raleigh for more than 12 years.

She is a parishioner at St. Michael’s Church in Cary, North Carolina.
